An attractive hourly rate is only the beginning of an aircraft rental conversation. Before choosing an airplane, put its location, terms, checkout requirements and available dates alongside your intended trip. AV8FLY’s aircraft directory connects you with published source listings; the operator confirms the current aircraft and rental arrangements.
Put the whole quote on one page
Ask whether the rate includes fuel, how flight time is billed, and which other charges apply. Confirm checkout or instructor charges, overnight policies, daily minimums, cancellation terms and how a weather change is handled. Compare the complete arrangement rather than the hourly number alone.
Know which aircraft you are discussing
Record the registration, home airport and exact model. Ask the operator to confirm the current equipment, availability and any requirements specific to that airplane. Source photographs are helpful for a shortlist; they do not establish the airplane’s current condition or availability.
Ask about pilot approval and documents
Have the operator explain its experience requirements, checkout process and documents needed before a rental. Review the agreement itself. Ask how renter insurance and a certificate of insurance should be supplied, and confirm coverage questions with the insurer. The owner’s insurance and a renter’s policy should never be assumed to mean the same thing.
A checklist to take into the call
Use the right next step
Browse rental aircraft, read the rental agreement area, or use the renter document portal. For the journey beyond the booking, open the fly-in trip checklist.
This guide helps organize questions. It does not approve a pilot, confirm insurance coverage or replace the operator’s agreement, aircraft documents or required flight preparation.
